Crockpot Italian Beef

This recipe was a gift from the beef gods shortly before moving out of the Chicago area where Italian beef doesn’t exist. This recipe is from the Jones family. Thank you Mrs. Jones for giving away your secrets.

This Italian beef is top tier, better than most in Chicago, and takes NO effort.

Time: 8-10 hours CROCKPOT

Skill Level: A toddler can do this

Amount: A 3lb roast gives about 4-5 monster sammiches, and a 5lb roast gives 7-9 monster sammiches…Maybe more just depends on your sammich prefrence

You need:

  • 3-5lb rump roast
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 can beef consomme or beef broth
  • 1 package of dry Italian-style dressing mix
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp onion salt
  • 2 tsp dried parsley
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 bay leaf

FOR SAMMICHES ADD

  • Italian bread loaf
  • Provolone cheese slices
  • Giardiniera

Do this:

  1. Get out crock pot.
  2. Put everything in it.
  3. Stir a little.
  4. Cook for 8-10 hours on low.
  5. Shred that beef.
  6. Serve it.
